So, I just got vol. 5 and 9 in my hand today (I tend to collect out of order). For some reason, even though there was plenty of Marron in them, the following stories irked me for some odd reason.
The Zelkova House in Autumn Rain I think what got me about this was that it was Tira focused at the end, so she winds up saving all of them. Plus, there didn't seem to be a point to Mille's appearance at all. It made no sense there. This is also where I begin to figure that I like Chocolat, and I don't like Tira. If give a choice of het pairings, I'd rather Chocolat have gotten Carrot. But I digress.
The Sonic Magician Part of it was Marron being taken down so easily, plus the reason why. (Because a fangirl hates seeing the bishounen so vulnerable. Sue me, I'm silly.) The other part? Just as her head's going to roll, who does Tira call for? Yet Chocolat had the whole situation under control. I know they try and make Tira a tough dominatrix femme, but there are too many times she falls back into damsel in distress or emotional femme character for my liking. This is also where I found I adored Chocolat, but that's another story.
One Fine Afternoon Everything about this just felt like rubbing a cat the wrong way. I don't know why, I can't pinpoint it, and I chalk it up to unreasonable fanfemme stupidity, (because I can admit when I'm being one).
I know, not exactly yaoi-esque discussion material. I just had to get it off my chest. Although, in the Zelkova story, I did like the bit with Gateau staring at a rain-soaked Marron. (Didn't like Gateau fighting alone, though I can see why they did it that way.)

Ditto. I actually picked up vol.4-7 after watching the TV series and started collecting the others - I'm only missing vol.8 now!

I think they paired the Hunters up with each Guardian Spirit related story.
Artail = Tira
Vega = Chocolate
Sirius = Daughter
Kengyu = Marron
Deneb = Gateau

Yeah, Mille was only there to identify the villain. If I wrote a fanfic on this scene ( and I did - wheee... I'm such a nerd ::sulk:: ), Mille should have attacked Artail with magic - hitting Carrot and have him turn Artail inside out... errr...

I was wondering about the stones, as I saw the one with Chocolat vs. Vega as well. I just wasn't sure. (I have 1, 6-8, and 11-12 to still get. I'm so behind.) Which volume has Marron's piece?

*nods* Manga!Tira is pretty cool in some respects, but I know what you mean.I just love when Gateau is flirting with Marron and it's not blatant and doesn't always get a page worth of screentime but it's still THERE. XD XD

And also, they are (sort of..) realy people, they don't know everything. They're allowed to be frazzled, to miss important clues. If Tira was not in control, and she was used to being that way, would it not be normal to get a bit hystaric? And Chocolat didn't really help lead her into believing she could handle it, which she probably could have without telling Miss Scary-Lady.
Oh well. o.o Dunno if that made sense or not, but I'll stop rambling now. ^_^

It's not so much Tira being frazzled that annoys me, it's just that this is the second time that I've read where she gets in trouble and calls out for Carrot, which I don't recall her doing in the anime in the same vein. When it did happen there, it was a bit different and more tolerable. And she just wasn't that emotional in the anime as compared to the manga. I liked that bit in episode 2 where Chocolat was fretting over Carrot and Tira said she'd go after the sorcerer, and told her sister to watch Carrot's temperature. (Granted, she assumed she'd have Gateau and Marron with her as well, then freaked when she saw them lying unconcious, but she still confronted the sorcerer anyway)< /offtopic >

I know what you mean about Tira, though. I was listening to the radio dramas again... Whip I contains a stupid amount of Tira sitting around whining about how much she loves Carrot (she has her own monologue, even), about how Chocolat's sooo outgoing and she can never hope to get with Carrot, and it's like, stfu already. Then there's the bit in Whip II; from what I can gather, Carrot's off somewhere else, Marron and Chocolat are tied up/down/whatever/bound in various ways, Gateau's mind's been tampered with to go ebil for a while, and Tira's all beat up... and Chocolat's screaming for Tira to help Marron, and Tira's just like "Stop... it...", and Chocolat's like "TIRAAAAAAAAA!", and Tira's just like "Carrot... help me..." and she has a flashback thing which does a dazzly thing with the Melody Stones and stuff happens and they win. Way to go for like, kicking ass, Tira. Nice to know you're so dependable.
But I still like Marron's gasps and cries in that track. Calls out to the sadistic side of me XD
I really liked One Fine Afternoon, myself. Thirty-odd pages devoted to Marron, I like that. I like how they felt they could put a totally random not-plot-advancing-at-all backstory chapter in so late in the story... and at least to me, it's the perfect ending for the volume, Carrot with his arm round Marron and all ^^. It's kinda the end of how it all normally is, because, humor chapters aside, everything after that is heading off towards the final story arc, which I'm not too fond of... and while I was like "DON'T DO IT, MARRON!!!" when I first read that chapter, it IS kinda surprising that, in nine volumes, Cork's the first female character, background females aside, to take an interest in Marron. It's a nice little chapter showing how he works, imo ^^... and it also contains the Universal Hand Gesture For Looking For Someone; check out the pages where Marron's asking around the townspeople for the guy Cork knew, it's kinda funny ^^

Plus, it's not like Carrot is INTERESTED in Chocolat anyway, so what's Tira worrying about? =P Has she not NOTICED Carrot screaming and trying to get away from Chocolat? :P(This leads to me wondering if it's really CHOCOLAT Tira is after. "Why doesn't oneesama jump ME while ripping her clothes off?!")

Yea, but that wasn't in the artbook :P. The artbook, asides from the manga/novel/CD/etc covers, was primarily made up of Tira and Chocolat getting gropey :p... well, maybe not so much, but there was quite a bit of it, bah. Okay, makes it slightly more tolerable when you look at it from that angle.manga!Tira has the tendency to breakdown a little too much for my liking. I don't dislike femme characters, but emotional ones do get to me. (And before I forget, what's the total amount of megs of those collected tracks? I'm still looking into streamload.)
I think what got me about One Fine Afternoon was how the word love was jockeyed around so suddenly towards the end. Kind of came out the blue. And I'd like to think Marron's had females interested, but this is just the first time he was focused on. Rather ironic that she's a ghost, when you think about it.

I just wish my volume 9 was better to scan from, I'd kinda like to scan that part big enough for my wall <3Even when she was a child she was described as a crybaby... Akahori just doesn't give us much to change our opinion on that, really. Maybe it's just me, but I have such problems seeing Tira Tira and bondage!Tira as the same person... kinda the same with Chocolat, but moreso with Tira, it just DOESN'T click in my mind, ya know?
Those drama CD tracks? All in all, there's like, 180mb of them or so ^^. I'm not on my home computer right now, but I'm mostly sure it was around that.
It was kinda out of the blue... Cork was just playing with him though, I think. For some reason, it makes me smile when Cork gets mad and calls him a jerk, and everything... 'cause no-one says that to Marron, he never did anything else to warrant something like that, it's just different ^^. I'm kinda curious how Carrot and the others could see Cork, when normal villagers and that couldn't... probably something ofuda-ry Marron did, but she still hid when Dota and Milphey turned up... but it shows that Marron's not the kind to toss something like that around lightly, anyway. I like that <3. Makes me squee muchly when I see the end of ep 24 dubbed, even though it's not really related, what with volume 9 being done after the anime was made and the dub being somewhat loose in translation in parts anyway. My fangirl thoughts just like it anyway <3
